Job summary

State of Missouri is seeking an APS Specialist to protect seniors and adults with disabilities in the Springfield area. This role involves investigating reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and conducting home visits to assess living conditions.

You will interview victims and caregivers, coordinate protective services, and may travel locally. Some shifts include on-call rotations.

Qualifications

High level communication and interviewing skills.
Able to work independently and show initiative within a team environment.
Able to be resilient, with critical and innovative thinking skills.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; experience substituted for education where applicable.
For APS Specialist II, one+ year in Adult Protective Services or related field.

Responsibilities

Investigate reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of the elderly (60+) and disabled (18+).
Conduct home visits to observe surroundings, and interview victims and caregivers.
Coordinate interventions and ongoing protective services needs.
Be available to be in an on call rotation with other team members.
Travel within local multi-county area for home visits, hearings, and trainings.
