Job summary

Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) in Austin, TX is seeking a CPI Alternative Response Worker Trainee. The role supports protective services investigations, alternative response, foster care, and adoptions under supervision.

Position includes travel up to 60% and requires a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, with extensive KSAs in child development, family dynamics, and community resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a social/human services field or related area is preferred.
• Experience in social/human/protective services is beneficial.
• Ability to travel up to 60% and work mobile/field-based.

Responsibilities

• Determines the causes/factors of abuse/neglect to children by gathering information and assessing risk.
• Collaborates with families to determine strengths/needs and take action to remove immediate threats.
• Enters contact and narratives into the designated case management system within required time frames.
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships with families, CPS staff, law enforcement, and other resources.
• Attends trainings, meetings, and staffings; performs other duties as assigned.
