Job summary

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is seeking a CPI Investigation Worker Trainee to perform mobile, field-based investigations of reported child abuse or neglect. You will visit homes, schools, and community locations to gather information, assess safety, and document findings.

This is a full-time role, with up to 75% travel and no telework. Ideal candidates will have a degree in a related field and be prepared for demanding work in dynamic environments, including

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and family dynamics.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel across regions and attend visits after hours.

Responsibilities

• Responds quickly in crisis situations involving children.
• Conducts forensic investigations to determine risk of harm.
• Interviews families and stakeholders to gather case information.
• Documents findings and completes required forms accurately.
• Promotes safety and coordinates with services and authorities.
