Job summary

Telex LLC is seeking a Lead Protection and Control Technician to own commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of advanced protective relaying schemes across generation, transmission, and distribution substations. Qualifications

• 5+ years field experience in relay testing, calibration, and substation commissioning without direct supervision.
• Expertise in three-phase power systems, protection schemes, and SCADA integration.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment.
• Perform advanced end‑to‑end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, Omicron Test Universe, and RTS.
• Execute functional and scheme testing: reclosing, breaker failure, advanced logic, and communication‑assisted protection schemes.
• Troubleshoot and optimize protocols including DNP3, Modbus, 8979, using tools such as Wireshark, Accelerator, and ASE 2000.
• Develop and refine standardized commissioning and testing procedures.
• Mentor junior technicians and oversee field execution for safety and quality.
• Partner with clients, vendors, and engineering teams to deliver world‑class reliability.
