Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking a System Protection Technician in a development program to learn installation, maintenance, and testing of protective relays, SCADA, and OT systems at field facilities. You will work with senior staff on construction projects and gain hands-on experience.

Responsibilities include assisting with installation, verifying protective assets, and performing maintenance while advancing knowledge in relay technology and protection schemes in a structured career path.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of substation equipment and protection components.
• Knowledge of testing electro‑mechanical relays and microprocessor relays.
• Ability to read control drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installation and commissioning of protection equipment.
• Verify functionality and communication of protection assets.
• Conduct acceptance testing of voltage and current sensing devices.
• Complete compliance paperwork and supporting documentation.
• Apply Cyber Security controls per Dominion Energy standards.
