Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking a Protection & Controls Engineer to design, set, commission, and maintain protection systems for large electrical infrastructure. You will own schemes from interconnection to facility buses and support on-site generation and BESS resources.

The role is based in Memphis, TN with some travel to other sites. Responsibilities include developing protection philosophy, relay settings, testing with industry tools, and coordinating with field technicians during outages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or related engineering field.
• 3+ years in protection and controls on medium/high-voltage systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for field and site activities.
• Strong knowledge of relay protection schemes and settings.

Responsibilities

• Develop protection philosophy, diagrams, and relay panel layouts end-to-end.
• Calculate and maintain protective relay settings and logic for lines, transformers, and storage resources.
• Coordinate with field techs during outages and commissioning activities.
• Perform short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies; align with the study of record.
• Integrate protection with SCADA/RTUs and IEC 61850 communications.
