Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking a Protection & Controls Engineer to design, set, commission, and maintain protection schemes for large electrical infrastructure in Memphis, TN. The role emphasizes hands-on work with protection philosophy, relay settings, and coordination across transmission, distribution, and storage resources.

You will align protection with SCADA/RTUs, IEC 61850, and industry test equipment, performing studies, commissioning, and event analysis while supporting outages and site readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of protection and controls experience on medium- or high-voltage systems.
• Strong understanding of relays, protection schemes, and coordination studies.

Responsibilities

• Design protection philosophy, one-line diagrams, and control schematics for interconnection to facility buses.
• Set and maintain protective relay settings for lines, transformers, storage resources.
• Specify relays, CTs/VTs, trip circuits, and protection schemes.
• Perform short-circuit studies and device coordination; update settings as systems change.
• Commission protection systems with in-service tests and end-to-end verification.
• Integrate protection with SCADA/RTUs and IEC 61850 communications.
• Support NERC PRC evidence and testing; assist outages and troubleshooting.
