Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a P&C Technician Trainee in Texas to support installation, testing, and maintenance of protection and control devices across stations. You’ll work under supervision, gain experience with relays, SCADA, PLCs, and communications equipment, and participate in safety and regulatory compliance.

No prior work experience is required; an associate degree in relevant tech fields and a valid driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in electrical engineering technology, electronic technology or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• No previous work experience required.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to meet vehicle operation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in acceptance and installation tests on protection, control, and measurement devices in stations.
• Assist in installation, maintenance, and operation of power line carriers, SCADA, and communications equipment.
• Perform switching under direct supervision and assist with new equipment or systems.
• Maintain test equipment and prepare accurate records and drawings.
• Test and calibrate protection and control devices on a scheduled basis.
