Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer to design, develop, and implement protection and control systems for electrical power projects in the United States.

You will prepare engineering documentation, review equipment specifications, and ensure compliance with standards and customer requirements. You will coordinate activities across design, testing, and commissioning phases, support SCADA integration, perform relay testing, and assist with proposals and risk assessments

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in protection and control engineering for power systems.
• Candidate must have work authorization to work in the United States.
• Knowledge of protective relays, SCADA systems, and communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, GOOSE).
• Experience with testing tools and equipment including DOBLE and OMICRON.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop protection and control schemes for substations and power systems.
• Prepare engineering documentation including design criteria, schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay settings.
• Review and validate vendor equipment specifications and technical documentation.
• Coordinate technical activities across design, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Support project managers with technical input for proposals, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
• Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
• Perform relay testing, SCADA integration, and communication protocol verification.
• Provide technical support to customers during installation and commissioning activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
