Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc. seeks a Protection & Control Engineer to design and implement protection systems for power projects. You will develop schemes for substations, prepare design documents, and validate vendor specs to meet standards and client requirements.

You will work with project managers and cross-functional teams, perform testing and commissioning activities, and support proposals with technical guidance while focusing on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in protection and control engineering for power systems.
• Knowledge of protective relays, SCADA, and communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, GOOSE).
• Familiarity with substation automation and high-voltage equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design protection and control schemes for substations and power systems.
• Prepare engineering documentation including design criteria, schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay settings.
• Review vendor equipment specs and ensure compliance with standards and customer requirements.
• Coordinate project activities across design, testing, and commissioning lifecycle.
• Provide technical input for proposals, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
