Job summary

Morson Group is seeking a Protection & Control Application Engineer to support programming, testing, and commissioning of protection and control panels for grid assets.

The role is 100% remote until the site becomes active, with a transition to four days per week onsite in Salt Lake City around mid-2027. Travel requirements include domestic travel up to 70–80% during the first year and possible Canada trips.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience with relay testing and setting files for multifunction relays.
• Strong knowledge of power systems, protection schemes, and communications.

Responsibilities

• Program, test and commission protection and control systems.
• Analyze specifications, diagrams, wiring drawings and BOMs.
• Create relay setting files based on protection studies and control logic.
• Program GE Multilin relays and configure IEC 61850 communications.
• Develop and execute factory and site test procedures.
• Perform secondary injection testing and simulate protection schemes.
• Test protection solutions in-house and at customer sites.
• Provide field support through commissioning.
• Support and mentor other engineers and team members.
