Job summary

American Electric Power in Longview, TX, is seeking an entry-level P&C Electrician A to assist with installation, testing, calibration, and maintenance of protection and control devices at stations and SCADA facilities.

The role requires an Associate's degree in relevant technology, no prior experience, and a valid driver’s license. Candidates may travel as needed and must pass PAT; lifting and physical tasks are expected.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's degree in electrical engineering technology, electronic technology, or related technology field.
• No previous work experience required; must be able to learn and perform duties as P&C Electrician A.
• Must pass Physical Abilities Test (PAT) and have a valid state driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in acceptance and installation tests on protection, control, and measurement devices.
• Test protection and control devices periodically and as required.
• Calibrate protection and control devices on a set schedule.
• Diagnose trouble and assist with repairs to prevent recurrence.
• Operate a computer to test, calibrate, and retrieve data from protection and control devices.
