United States Digital Space LLC in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Propulsion Engineer, Propulsion Simulation & Data Analysis (Raptor) to advance engine modeling, simulation, and data-driven predictions for future flight performance.

You will work with a team on lumped-parameter thermofluid physics, engine cycle analysis, anomaly resolution, and tools to improve engineering design. The role offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits, including stock incentives and 401(k).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a STEM discipline.
• 1+ year experience with physics-based simulations of real dynamic systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the lumped-parameter thermofluid model of the Raptor engine.
• Conduce engine cycle analysis to steer future-state engine design and thrust upgrades.
• Conduct anomaly resolution using the engine model and sparse instrumentation.
• Develop understanding of the physics underlying engine performance and related modeling techniques.
• Maintain and improve the representation of the Raptor engine in integrated vehicle simulations and flight analysis.
• Develop tools to understand engine performance variability and improve hardware design.
• Automate processes and software tools to predict test performance and generate flight predictions for GNC and flight software.
• Collaborate with engineers to standardize tools and maximize functionality while minimizing overhead.
