Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA seeks a Propulsion Engineer for Propulsion Simulation & Data Analysis (Raptor). You will translate engine test data into predictions of future performance for the most reliable rocket engines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or engineering.
  • 1+ year of experience with physics-based simulations.
  • Proficiency in modeling and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with software development and version control.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve lumped-parameter thermofluid models for the Raptor engine.
  • Conduce engine cycle analysis to influence design and thrust upgrades.
  • Resolve anomalies using engine models and sparse data.
  • Understand physics of engine performance and measurement techniques.
  • Maintain engine models in simulations and flight analysis.
  • Develop tools to analyze performance variability and inform design.
  • Automate processes to predict test performance and flight outcomes.
  • Collaborate to standardize tools and methods across teams.
