SpaceX is seeking a Propulsion Engineer for Propulsion Simulation and Data Analysis (Raptor) in Hawthorne, CA. You will develop and maintain lumped-parameter models, perform engine cycle analyses, and support anomaly resolution with data-driven insights. Collaboration across teams and automation of predictive tools are key aspects.

The role emphasizes physics-informed modeling, data pipelines, and Python/C++ software development for high-consequence propulsion systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, or STEM field.
• 1+ year experience with physics-based simulations of real dynamic systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the lumped-parameter thermofluid model of the Raptor engine.
• Conduce engine cycle analysis to influence design and thrust upgrades.
• Conduct anomaly resolution using engine model and sparse instrumentation.
• Develop understanding of physics behind engine performance and measurement techniques.
• Maintain representation of Raptor model in simulations, validation, and Monte Carlo analysis.
• Develop tools to understand engine performance variability and inform manufacturing improvements.
• Automate processes and tools to predict test performance and flight predictions for GNC and flight software.
• Collaborate with engineers to standardize tooling and reduce future overhead.
