Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking engineers to support IPS test programs for the COLUMBIA Class at the CTF in Philadelphia with a training rotation in New London, CT. Responsibilities include root-cause analysis, surveillance of work, and on-site coordination with IPS component suppliers while ensuring strict test procedures and safety standards.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in engineering and 2–5 years of related experience, with preference for those familiar with shipboard propulsion,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in engineering in Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, Marine, Mechatronics, Computers, Chemical, materials.
• 2 - 5 years of relevant engineering experience is required
• Masters degree preferred in a technical field is advantageous
• Experience with COLUMBIA or VA engineering programs is a plus

Responsibilities

• Determine the root cause of IPS cognizant issues and expeditiously correct deficiencies to minimize test interruptions
• Perform surveillances of work performed under area of cognizance
• Act as a primary Electric Boat contact for on-site IPS component suppliers
• Support development of IPS cognizant component group engineering directions
• Support other locations with issue resolution of COLUMBIA equipment
• Support construction activities and shipboard integration at Electric Boat facilities
• Gather data to support development of COLUMBIA IPS design and documentation improvements
• Interface with NAVSEA, NNL, NSWC, and vendors
