Job summary

Badger Meter invites interns to join the Proposals Department and contribute to a risk management and project tracking initiative. You will document current processes, gather requirements, and help design an improved RFX Checklist or replacement tool with automated validation and controls.

You’ll work with multiple teams to map workflows, draft requirements, and develop prototypes, gaining hands-on exposure to automation, BPM, and document management in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in MIS / business IT, engineering, or communications.
• Interest in business process improvement, workflow design, automation, or PM.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with process documentation ability.
• Ability to identify gaps and standardize processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience creating process docs, flowcharts, requirements, or technical docs is a plus.
• Familiar with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint or similar tools.
• Exposure to workflow automation, project management, BPM, databases or information systems is preferred.
• Interest in AI, automation, low-code/no-code platforms, document management, or workflow tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and document the current RFX Checklist, including processes and requirements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and risk reduction.
• Evaluate risk management and project tracking to improve validation and visibility.
• Define business and functional requirements for a redesigned RFX Checklist or tool.
• Develop recommendations for automated validation, required fields, and controls.
• Identify opportunities to build error-proofing and standardized controls into the process.
• Research tools and solutions for proposal management, workflow automation, and document management.
• Explore solutions beyond PDFs and Adobe for streamlined document creation and approvals.
• Map current and future-state workflows and document proposed improvements.
• Create process maps, requirements docs, user guides, diagrams, and supporting materials.
• Develop and test prototypes or concepts for the redesigned tool.
• Collaborate with Proposals, Sales, Legal, Engineering, Marketing, IT, and others.
• Organize project information, track actions, and communicate status.
• Present recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
• Support additional proposal-related projects and tasks as directed.
