Job summary

Qualifications

BA degree in insurance, business or related field preferred.
Must attain or be working toward AU, CPCU, ARM designation or comparable higher insurance education.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Property & Casualty Underwriter or 3 years in underwriting-related roles.
Must have or attain within three months a current property-casualty license for the state of residence.
Experience as an underwriter and/or agency management is valued.
Working knowledge of all commercial insurance and underwriting processes.

Responsibilities

Completes underwriting qualification and pricing of new business and renewals, exercising independent judgment.
Requests additional information when needed and communicates acceptance or declination to producers.
Builds relationships with producers and serves as primary contact for assigned region.
Analyzes underwriting information including applications, loss data, inspections, budgets, and audits.
Prepares underwriting approach to large renewals and new business.
Adheres to underwriting authority and company guidelines; passes audits.
