Job summary

Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking an Underwriter for our VFIS Underwriting Department. The role operates under delegated underwriting authority to qualify and price new and renewal business and to service accounts according to guidelines.

This position is onsite at our York, PA office. The ideal candidate will have a BA or appropriate designation, underwriting experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with producers while ensuring accurate policy issuance and

Qualifications

• BA degree in insurance, business or related field preferred.
• AU, CPCU, ARM designation or higher insurance education preferred.
• Minimum 2 years P&C Underwriter or 3 years in underwriting support/CSR/agent role.
• Current property-casualty license within 3 months of hire.
• Working knowledge of all commercial insurance.
• Analytical ability to exercise underwriting judgment.
• Organizational skills to handle priorities.
• Proficient in IT tools and software applications.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and price new and renewal submissions under delegated authority.
• Request additional information and advise producers of acceptance/declination.
• Manage producer relationships and be primary contact in assigned region.
• Analyze underwriting data including apps, loss runs, inspections, reports and budgets.
• Prepare approach for large renewals and new business.
• Ensure timely handling and adherence to underwriting authority.
• Explain program forms and endorsements and rate risk per guidelines.
• Maintain file documentation and pass audits; support sales staff.
• Review competitor forms and coverage as needed.
