Service Operations is the team that provides Service Desk support, Incident management, enterprise application support, enterprise systems group, windows engineering, Microsoft 365, Managed Hotel operations and Property Technology Engineering. As a key member of our Service Operations team, you will be the focal point for all interactions with franchise hotels technologies and responsible for interfacing with business and driving key vendor relationships.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support vendor-provided Opera Cloud property management systems (PMS), Oracle Hospitality Integration Platform (OHIP), and payment systems operating in Oracle-hosted hotel environments
  • Assist in the development, support, and maintenance of a reservation, inventory, and rate plan interface utilizing OHIP to enable seamless communication with Opera Cloud PMS.
  • Collaborate with senior team members and vendors to optimize interface functionality, ensuring data accuracy, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and enhancements for OHIP integrations, contributing to improvements in reservation management, pricing strategies, and inventory synchronization across hotel properties.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and innovating with OHIP, leveraging technical acumen and curiosity to identify opportunities for system improvement beyond standard instruction.
  • Provide technical guidance on operational issues affecting the Opera Cloud PMS
  • Assist in coordinating communications with third-party technical vendors and internal teams for planned events, maintenance, and outages.
  • Form a relationship with the account teams at Oracle and Shift4
    • Attend vendor meetings to review incident, service desk, and availability metrics
    • Monitor Opera PMS future version release notes provided by Oracle to identify items of business impact
    • Review Target Opera PMS version strategy with Oracle
    • Consideration of Oracle’s Critical Patch Update (CPUs) releases to minimize maintenance outages
  • Monitor the incident queue and assist in resolving incident/service request according to the team’s established SLO’s
  • Provide an escalation point for hotels and corporate staff requesting assistance with Oracle and Shift4 issues
  • Participate in new hotel onboarding tasks related to the property management system
    • Vendor coordination (PMS, payment systems, etc.)
    • Network and hardware evaluation per brand/vendor standards
    • Communicate with hotel ownership/management to ensure deadlines are met
  • Proactively identify areas for continuous improvement and work with associates and vendors to implement

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Oracle Opera Property Management System
  • Experience in Oracle hospitality property management systems (Opera V5, Opera Cloud, OCIM, OHIP)
  • Experience in Opera PMS installation and troubleshooting
  • Experience in Opera interface implementation
  • Experience with Opera OPI is a plus (oracle payment interface)
  • In depth knowledge of Oracle Opera, interface pc’s, payment systems.
  • Proficient in network, desktop, peripherals, protocols, communications, and other property management systems.
  • Project management skills are a plus
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and dates

Your Team

This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Manager, On-Property Technology. You will have 3 peer teammates and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

Your Work Location

As a Property Technology Engineering 2 you will be a remote-based associate, working from your home office. You will be required to connect virtually with Choice team members and leadership on video via Zoom, with possible periodic travel in-person to our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide offices in North Bethesda, MD, Scottsdale, AZ, or St. Louis Park, MN.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000 annually.

The pay range listed is for this position and is what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
