Job Profile

This position is primarily based in a location within PNC's footprint. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities can be performed remotely. Additional locations may be considered.

As a Technology Engineer Sr. within PNC's Technology organization, you can be based in Pittsburgh PA, Strongsville OH, Birmingham AL, Phoenix AZ or Dallas TX.

We are seeking a top-level Windows server system engineer, with extensive experience in Windows Server 2019, 2022 and 2025. You will be responsible for product ownership of the Windows Server operating system at PNC.

Responsibilities

  • Define standards for the operating system.
  • Create and maintain product roadmaps, standard guides, configuration guides, hardening guides, standard operating procedures, and other forms of documentation.
  • Server build templates.
  • Conceptualize, test, and provide solutions to meet business needs.
  • Participate in a regular weekly rotation where you will be on call for escalations from the Level 2 Site Reliability Center, and to perform after-hours change work.

Required Skills

  • A sense of ownership and responsibility for maintaining the standards, currency, security, and viability of the Windows Server operating system at PNC.
  • Proficiency and productivity in documentation, including producing roadmaps and technical guides.
  • Experience deploying servers in Azure cloud and on-premises.
  • Self-starter with good time management skills, able to work independently to meet deadlines.

In Addition

  • Experience in a large (13,000+ Windows servers) 24/7 environment.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Experience dealing with Windows vulnerabilities and remediation.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, Ansible automation, PowerShell scripting, IP networks, firewalls, and proxies.
  • Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification is preferred.
