The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union and aviation safety organization, seeks an experienced Flightdeck & Airspace Technology Engineer for our Tysons (McLean), Virginia office. The engineer acts as the primary point of contact and SME on technical specifications, standards, and policies related to flight deck technologies, spectrum policy, cybersecurity, and air traffic control interactions.
The role involves monitoring industry standards, regulatory development, and supporting modernization initiatives like ADS-B, Data Communication, and PBN, including liaising with government and industry stakeholders. The engineer must communicate complex technical issues effectively and develop strategic and tactical positions on airspace modernization and safety policies.
This position requires interaction with agencies such as FAA, Transport Canada, TSA, NAV CANADA, and others, supporting ALPA’s policies and initiatives in air traffic control modernization and cybersecurity. It involves 10-20% travel domestically and internationally.
Constant operation of computers and mobile devices; ability to travel and move equipment as needed, including lifting up to 50 lbs during travel.
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and does not offer sponsorship or relocation assistance. Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
