Job summary

Tarrant County Tax Office is seeking a detail-oriented professional to support property tax research and the assessment/collection process. You will handle billing, payments, delinquencies, refunds, and related research, while coordinating with taxpayers, title and mortgage companies, and appraisal staff.

Strong communication, accurate filing, and basic math skills are essential. The role requires standing/sitting as needed and routine task rotation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years of general office or retail experience.
• Prefer experience with electronic payment processing and knowledge of credit card and e-check processing.
• Experience with business machines, computers and basic business math is desired.
• Knowledge of property tax processing is desired.

Responsibilities

• Performs property tax research to solve complex problems associated with assessment and collection of ad valorem taxes.
• Carries out assessment and collection functions for property tax billing and payments, delinquent payments, bankruptcy payments, special and rollback calculations and refunds and tax account research.
• Extensively communicates with tax office and appraisal district staff, businesses, title and mortgage companies, and individual taxpayers.
• Resolves tax problems in person or over the phone.
• Researches tax questions and provides appropriate responses.
• Answers questions from clerks.
• Responsible for accurate files and filing.
• Ensures accuracy of funds collected and posting of transactions to accounts.
• Accountable for funds collected.
• Rotates responsibilities on a routine basis.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
