Job summary

Welltower is seeking a Property Tax Analyst to bridge internal tax resources, analyze market data, and prepare and file appeals to reduce property tax liabilities. The role involves valuations using cost/income/sales approaches and collaboration with tax authorities to ensure fair assessments.

The successful candidate will support budgeting with accurate tax projections and communicate findings to internal stakeholders, operators, and counsel for hearings and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 1–2 years relevant work experience in property tax or related area.
• Experience with OneSource or Optimus/iTam or similar tax software preferred.
• Knowledge of property tax assessment methods and ability to use Excel.
• CMI certification or familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with administrative process of property tax appeals and document management in WELL systems.
• Process data entry into WELL systems and manage data capture for periodical reports to internal stakeholders and external customers.
• Support assessment, valuation, and legal challenge of property taxes for real or personal property.
• Perform independent market, income, and cost analysis to determine fair market value.
• Identify over-assessed properties, file tax appeals, and negotiate with taxing authorities.
• Review tax assessments, track appeal status, and ensure accurate tax projections for budgeting.
• Prepare detailed valuation reports and evidence for hearings.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders, operators, attorneys, and consultants regarding assessment discrepancies.
