Job summary

Welltower specializes in wellness-focused real estate and operates as a leading national provider in senior living and healthcare infrastructure. We are seeking a Property Tax Analyst to join our tax function and drive accuracy in assessments and appeals.

In this role you will analyze market data, prepare valuation reports, and coordinate with tax authorities while collaborating with internal stakeholders to optimize property tax liabilities and budgeting accuracy across real and personal

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1-2 years relevant work experience.
  • OneSource or Optimus/iTam property tax software experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of property tax assessment methods and ability to use Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in data management and reporting.
  • Knowledge of property tax regulations, valuation and compliance preferred.
  • CMI preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administrative process of property tax appeals and document management in WELL systems.
  • Process data entry into WELL systems and manage data capture for periodical reports to internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Support the assessment, valuation, and legal challenge of property taxes for real or personal property.
  • Perform independent market, income, and cost analysis to determine fair market value.
  • Identify over-assessed properties, file tax appeals, and negotiate with taxing authorities.
  • Review tax assessments, track appeal status, and ensure accurate tax projections for budgeting.
  • Prepare detailed valuation reports, support documentation, and evidence for hearings.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders, operators, attorneys, and consultants regarding assessment discrepancies.
  • Analyze market data, conduct appraisals using cost/income/sales approaches.

About The Role

The Property Tax Analyst will bridge the gap as a dedicated tax resource for internal identification, preparation, and administration of real and personal property tax appeals. This position will be responsible for analyzing market data, conducting appraisals using cost/income/sales approaches, and file appeals to reduce property tax liabilities, and work with tax authorities to ensure equitable assessments. Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1-2 years relevant work experience
  • OneSource or Optimus/iTam property tax software experience preferred or related software/database knowledge
  • Knowledge of property tax assessment methods and ability to use Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in data management and reporting
  • Knowledge of property tax regulations, valuation and compliance preferred
  • CMI preferred
