General Description:
Under the direction of the Chief of Police. Coordinates custody and disposition of evidence/property in room.
Essential Functions of Work
- Coordinates custody and disposition of evidence/property in property room; receives logs and files all evidence/property received; checks property tag log book, property tag, and property/evidence for accuracy and correctness
- Inputs all property into property module of computer record system
- Assigns property/evidence to appropriate location in property room and maintainselectronic logson property/evidence, advises officers of lab results, and scans lab results into RMS
- Audits all records of disposition and follows court cases for disposition of property
- Records lists of evidence turned over to the City of Reynoldsburg
- Assists with records and property for public auction
- Destroys items of property/evidence when owners cannot be located, property/evidence is unreturnable to owners, or by a court order
- Transports property/evidence in unmarked police car to various crime labs (e.g., for testing, maintains lab requests, lab reports, and logs for lab requests for various submissions of property/evidence)
- Duplicates digital evidence upon requests by prosecutors, officers, etc.
- Inputs and tracks all cash entered into evidence. Mails certified letters, transfers money to auditor, documents forfeitures
- Maintains property room in orderly, clean, and organized fashion
- Maintains daily security of the property room and its contents
- Provides reports to supervisor
- Attends court hearings and meetings/training sessions as required
- Implements bar coding system for property room
- Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties
- Participates in staff development activities and services review procedures; attends staff meetings and supervisory conferences
- Maintains required licenses and/or certificates
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Possess excellent organizational, record keeping and computer and proficient typing skills
- Must be able to pass a physical and psychological examination, and a background investigation
- Must have evidence of insurability and maintain good driving record at all times
- Valid Ohio driver’s license
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

- Computer operation, Microsoft products; operation of office equipment (e.g., fax, copier, calculator, good typing skills (accuracy is a must)

Working Conditions:
- Light Work: lift, push, pull 20 pounds occasionally; 10 pounds frequently
- Ascends and/or descends ladders, stairs, or scaffolds
- Uses or works in proximity to the use of firearms, drugs & biohazards
