Job summary

Saline County is seeking an Appraisal Technician to support clerical and administrative duties related to real and personal property records. You will assist the public and county staff, explain forms and assessment processes, and manage mail, scans, and filing with accuracy.

You will also handle accounts payable/receivable, property renditions, exemptions, and record maintenance, while supporting appraisal maintenance and data conversion tasks. Prior office experience is required.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work with the public in a congenial manner.
• Knowledge of general office practices.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute; proficient with Microsoft products.
• Basic math skills; able to operate a 10-key calculator.
• Experience with word processing.
• Understanding of real and personal property appraisal records and processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the public and City/County employees by answering inquiries related to real and personal property records and related services.
• Explain the proper use and completion of real and personal property forms and documents.
• Educate the public about the assessment process, including statutes, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Research and respond to taxpayers’ questions in a timely manner.
• Maintain inventory of office supplies and order as needed.
• Enter accounts receivable/payable and process purchase requests for routing and approval.
• Process property renditions and tax exemptions; handle related fees and records.
• Scan, purge, and organize files; convert paper records to electronic data.
• Enter property address changes and parcel identification numbers; assign city and rural permits as needed.
