Guilford County Tax Department seeks a detail‑oriented professional to support the appraisal process for residential and commercial properties. You will review permits, listings, and sales data, route workflows to appraisers, and assist the public with tax records and appraisal procedures.
The role involves managing real property appeal workflows, preparing for hearings with the Board of Equalization & Review, and serving as a reliable contact for inquiries.
Performs research and analysis that supports the appraisal and determination of value of residential and commercial properties for the Tax Department.
An employee in this class performs work involving support and analysis in determining the appraised value of residential properties for tax purposes in the county. Work involves managing and maintaining building permit workflows that are sent to real estate appraisers. Reviewing and analyzing real estate sales and tax records on spreadsheets and databases. Managing the real property appeal workflow which includes set-up, scheduling, and notification of appraiser and appeal board decisions. Primary contact for information on real estate tax records. Tact and courtesy are required in frequent dealings with the public by telephone, email, and in person. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated through observation for conformity to establish departmental appraisal standards.
Associates Degree in a business, finance or office technology and one year of experience in real estate work.
OR
High School diploma or GED and three years of experience in real estate work.
Experience in real estate sales or appraisal office, paralegal or mortgage loan office. Proficiency with various Microsoft programs, particularly Excel.
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, talking and hearing.
Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and statistics, operate a computer terminal and use measuring devices.
