Job summary

Harvard University Housing & Real Estate seeks a diligent Property Operations Assistant to oversee multiple buildings within the HUH portfolio in Cambridge, MA. You will coordinate maintenance, manage service requests, and ensure safety and code compliance across systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.

Reporting to the Property or Area Manager, you will work with vendors, inspect units, maintain inventories, and support new residents while upholding Harvard's service standards and

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, with a technical certification or at least 2+ years in facilities.
• Experience in building operations, maintenance, or facilities management.
• Valid Massachusetts driver's license; willingness to obtain 2C license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure properties are maintained to safety and quality standards established by HUH.
• Monitor buildings daily and log activity; coordinate repairs with outside contractors.
• Oversee repairs to mechanical, electrical, heating, plumbing, carpentry components and appliances.
• Process maintenance/service requests and document activity in the web-based work order system.
• Monitor building automation systems; troubleshoot and optimize energy efficiency.
• Conduct building inspections for compliance with codes, sustainability and safety.
• Communicate issues with the Property/Area Manager; liaise with University colleagues.
• Maintain inventory and supplies; prepare vacant units for new residents.
• Work outside normal hours for turnovers, snow removal, and emergencies.
