Job summary

FLATS is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support Chicago properties by troubleshooting resident work orders, preparing units for new residents, and maintaining building exteriors and common areas. The role requires at least 1 year of residential maintenance experience, HVAC familiarity, and the ability to read and write English and perform basic math.

Responsibilities include coordinating inspections, scheduling contractors, and ensuring safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of residential maintenance experience.
• HVAC experience required; HVAC certification is a plus.
• Able to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot resident work orders daily and prioritize requests.
• Prepare vacant units to company standards.
• Maintain exterior grounds and perform seasonal duties (e.g., pool maintenance).
• Conduct property walk-throughs and document/correct issues as needed.
• Prepare for inspections under direction of Maintenance Engineer or Property Manager.
• Schedule outside contractors under supervision.
• Perform cleaning and supply tasks in designated building areas as needed.
• Coordinate annual inspections (fire extinguishers, life safety systems, elevator).
• Attend staff meetings and complete trainings as required.
• Other duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor or Property Manager.
