Job summary

Vest Residential is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Salem, VA. This full-time role involves handling technical and mechanical tasks to keep buildings, grounds, amenities, and common areas clean, safe, and fully functional.

You will diagnose issues, perform repairs, prepare vacant units, manage materials, and assist with general upkeep while following safety standards and company policies. The position requires staying on-call and supporting ongoing property operations.

Qualifications

• Must use hand and power tools safely and maintain equipment per policy.
• Complete and document work orders and preventative maintenance per standards.
• Read and follow safety procedures, OSHA rules, and code requirements.

Responsibilities

• Completes work orders from resident requests and preventive maintenance.
• Prepares vacants for leasing and coordinates punch lists with vendors.
• Maintains inventory and notifies supervisor when re-ordering needs arise.
• Documents service requests for tracking and accountability.
• Maintains grounds and common areas, and assists in painting and cleaning as needed.
• Supports cost-control by repairing rather than replacing parts when possible.
