Job summary

Vest Residential in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform hands-on mechanical work ensuring building and grounds meet standards for safety, cleanliness, and function.

You will diagnose defects from resident requests, perform preventative maintenance, manage make-readies for new move-ins, track inventory, and document work orders while staying on schedule and within safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• EPA Type I/II or Universal refrigerant recycling certification required where applicable.
• Valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart.

Responsibilities

• Completes assigned work orders from resident requests and preventative maintenance by diagnosing defects and performing repairs per safety standards.
• Executes the make-ready process for vacant apartments, including pre-move-out inspections, punch lists, scheduling vendors, and inspecting completed work.
• Manages materials by locating items, returning unused supplies, and notifying for re-orders.
• Completes documentation to track service requests and maintenance activities.
• Assists in grounds and common area upkeep, including cleaning, painting, and debris removal.
• Supports cost-control by repairing parts when possible and using tools efficiently.
