Job summary

Costello Companies in Rapid City, SD is seeking a Maintenance & Grounds Technician to assist the Site Manager in maintaining interior and exterior of apartment and townhome communities. The Maintenance Technician ensures proper operation of appliances, heating and cooling units, and lighting, while delivering reliable resident service.

Ideal candidates have hands-on remodeling or construction experience, strong customer service skills, and can work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service experience.
• Previous remodeling or construction experience.
• Ability to take direction from others and work as a team.
• Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work independently while staying on task.
• A drive to be successful.
• Understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
• Must be punctual and reliable.
• Must have hand tools to use on the job site.
• Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week.
• Must be available to handle after-hours emergency calls.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance.
• Exhibit a willingness to use vehicle to drive between properties and to get supplies.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance duties, including electrical, plumbing, drywall, appliance repairs, improvements, and other maintenance duties.
• Get units rent ready when they are vacated.
• Complete sidewalk snow removal for 2” or less.
• Maintain the grounds by picking up trash, maintain trash receptacles, and pull weeds every week.
• Perform inspections of grounds and tenant units with the Site Managers and/or Regional Managers.
• Provide efficient customer service to residents.
