Job summary

City of Alexandria is seeking a Property Maintenance Code Inspector (I, II or III) to conduct proactive inspections and enforce the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building and Maintenance Codes. You will review complaints, inspect properties on-site, and coordinate abatement actions with owners, tenants and businesses.

Under supervision, you will maintain inspection data, testify in court when required, and pursue continuous education and certification as mandated by state and city guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Performs entry level work and develops skills in code inspections in accordance with the USBC.
• Researches specific provisions of codes, ordinances, and city policies.
• Addresses complaints, communicates abatement actions, and provides follow up.
