Job summary

The City of Altoona seeks a Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector to conduct thorough inspections, investigations, and enforcement activities to reduce blight while respecting property owners and tenants.

Responsibilities include indoor/outdoor field investigations, inspecting for violations, and issuing notices to comply; IPMC certification is preferred and must be earned within six months of appointment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalency required.
• IPMC Certification preferred and must be obtained within six months of appointment.
• Ability to interact with the public in a respectful, solution-oriented manner.

Responsibilities

• Conduct indoor and outdoor field investigations of properties.
• Inspect properties for violations and document findings.
• Issue and post warning notices, notices of violations, corrective notices, and orders to comply.
• Support city regulations and ordinances through field and office work.
