Job summary

HireIQ is seeking a Property Controller for a confidential real estate client. You’ll oversee accounting for multiple property entities, lead the monthly close, and prepare entity-level and consolidated financial reporting for the CFO.

You will manage the accounting team, review journal entries, prepare statements, oversee CAM and tax reconciliations, and coordinate year-end workpapers for audits, while supporting budgeting and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience leading an accounting team and reviewing its work.
• Strong background in real estate accounting, monthly close, and financial reporting.
• Familiar with tenant billing, CAM and tax reconciliations, budgeting, and fixed asset accounting.

Position Overview

HireIQ is seeking a Property Controller for a confidential real estate client. You’ll oversee accounting for multiple property entities, lead the monthly close, and prepare entity-level and consolidated financial reporting for the CFO.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the accounting team, including accountants and accounts receivable and payable staff
• Review journal entries, trial balances, and monthly income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
• Prepare entity-level and consolidated financial statements
• Oversee tenant charges, management fees, and payroll allocations across entities
• Review CAM and tax reconciliations, including recovery of eligible expenses, before they are issued to tenants
• Lead the annual budget process with input from property managers and leasing staff; compare budgets with prior-year results and explain variances
• Review fixed asset schedules and record depreciation and amortization for assets, tenant improvements, and leasing commissions
• Coordinate year-end workpapers for tax preparation, support external audits, and assist the CFO with regulatory reporting
• Take on other accounting projects as needed
