Job summary

The City of Saint Charles is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer in the Community Development Department. The role involves inspecting residential and commercial properties for compliance with property maintenance codes, zoning codes and city ordinances.

The position is full-time and non-exempt, with a salary range of $59,578.84–$83,409.86 and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, retirement and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Property Maintenance certification within 6 months of hire date.
• Three years general building construction or related experience.
• Vocational/technical training in codes and inspections required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections on new and existing structures for property maintenance codes and city ordinances.
• Inform and advise the public, contractors, owners, developers on inspection activities and code requirements.
• Notify stakeholders of code violations and coordinate follow-up inspections.

Education

Property Maintenance certification

Vocational or technical training in building codes, zoning codes, property maintenance enforcement, building inspections, building trades or related area

ICC Residential Building Inspector certification preferred
