Job summary

The role reports to the Inspection Manager and requires on-site field work. Responsibilities include prioritizing inspections, researching ownership, issuing notices of violation, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining detailed records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license required.
• ICC certification within 1 year of start date.
• CLA credential in code officer safety within 1 year of start date.
• FEMA IS-100/200/700/800/2200 within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Inspect existing residential and commercial buildings for compliance with county ordinances.
• Drive an assigned County vehicle daily while performing inspections.
• Receive violation complaints and establish inspection priorities.
• Research records, maps to identify owner/occupant and validity of complaints.
• Issue notices of violation and coordinate with other agencies as needed.
• Document inspection results accurately and maintain logs and reports.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Vocational/technical training in plumbing, building technology, construction

ICC Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector certification

CLA Credential of Learning Achievement in code officer safety

FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, IS-2200 certifications

1 year experience in construction, inspection, or code enforcement
