The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians is seeking a Lost and Found Clerk for Viejas Casino & Resort. You will manage lost items, verify documentation, and assist guests with property retrieval while maintaining security and accuracy.

Responsibilities include processing claims, updating the database, and coordinating with Security, Cash Services, and management to ensure proper disposition of found property. Strong English, typing, and guest service skills are required.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English.
• Typing 25 wpm with accuracy is required.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic office equipment.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

Job Summary

Maintains control and accountability of lost items turned into Security. Disposes of unclaimed items in accordance with Casino and Tribal policies. Performs front desk duties such as providing customer service to guests and/or vendors, answering telephone, typing letters, memo and etc. as needed.

Job Description

• Receives found property from Security Officers or other team members and checks documentation for completeness. Verifies items to the form submitted.
• Releases found property, if in our direct control, to guests in accordance with the Lost and Found policies and procedures.
• Coordinates with the Casino Manager and Cash Services personnel to authorize the release of found money being returned to owner(s) or finder(s).
• Assists finders of unclaimed lost property in completing proper claim forms and submits them to the Director of Security or Gaming Commissioner for approval.
• Prepares periodic reports and disposal of the unclaimed found money in accordance of policy.
• Maintains and updates database system daily to keep track of lost and found item and its location; release items and forms associated with the lost and found processes.
• Catalogues and categorizes property to ensure easy retrieval when owner or others need to retrieve it.
• Maintains the audit trail of Lost and Found forms and archives those forms in which a final disposition has been obtained.
• Performs front desk duties such as providing customer service to guests and/or vendors, answering telephone, typing letters, memo etc. as needed.
• Establishes and maintains professional working relations with internal and external guests.
• Composes memos and letters as requested.
• Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained.
• Adheres to all company and department policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Does not provide supervisions to other team members.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Must be age 21 years of age or older.
• 0 to 1 year of related experience preferred.
• Must have the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally in the English language, including the ability to write reports that can be understood by the CEO, COO, General Manager, Tribal Council, legal staff, court officers, and law enforcement.
• Must have a high degree of common sense.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
• Ability to operate basic office equipment including telephones, computers, multifunction printers, fax machines, etc.
• Excellent guest service skills, including the ability to remain tolerant when provoked and to handle disgruntled guests and resolve problems.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Ability to type 25 wpm (a skills test is required).
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Ability to work in a professional high-pressure environment while demonstrating and maintaining good personal relation/people skills and a positive attitude.
• Ability to multitask and work well under stress.
• Must be a self-starter and able to adjust to change.
• Must be able to work flexible hours during the day or evening including weekends, holidays, and all blackout dates.
