Job summary

Michigan Farm Bureau is seeking a Property Claims Unit Supervisor to assist the Director of Property & Liability Claims in managing all functions of the unit. You will help ensure prompt, efficient handling, control, and disposition of claims within approved limits, while maintaining quality service and adherence to company procedures.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive claims knowledge, and a commitment to cooperative business principles.

Qualifications

• Minimum five to seven years experience in claims
• Must possess excellent listening and superior customer service skills with strong leadership abilities
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly to a wide audience
• Must have valid driver license with acceptable driving record
• AIC designation and/or professional insurance coursework required
• Bachelor's degree in insurance, business, or communications preferred, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Property & Liability Claims and the Field Property Claims Manager in managing all functions of a Property Claims Unit
• Establish and maintain quality control of claim processing and manage staff, vendors and repair programs
• Aid in assessment of best practices and industry benchmarks to improve customer service
• Act as liaison with other divisions and coordinate handling of property claims to improve profitability
• Review policy coverages and ensure proper handling according to company procedures, authorize bills, estimates and settlements within limits
• Participate in the property claim file audit program to ensure quality claims handling and compliance
