Job summary

Vision Government Solutions Inc. is seeking an Indiana-based Appraiser or Appraiser Trainee to inspect and record property details for valuation. The role combines fieldwork with office tasks and requires reliable, customer-focused communication.

The ideal candidate will have strong mathematical aptitude, be comfortable inspecting various property types, and possess a valid driver’s license. Indiana Level III certification is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Located in or near southeastern Indiana around Versailles/Vevay.
• Familiarity with general building construction.
• Strong mathematical aptitude.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bending, stretching and kneeling may be required during property inspections.
• Ability to climb stairs and carry 5-10 lbs of equipment.
• Comfort working outdoors for extended periods in all seasons/weather.
• Effective verbal communication; put at ease members of the public who ask questions regarding a property visit.
• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
• Indiana Level III Assessor-Appraiser certificate is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately review, gather, and record specific property characteristics relevant for property valuation.
• Inspect properties to evaluate construction, condition, special features, and functional design.
• Measure and inspect exterior of properties.
• Photograph exterior of properties as required.
• Serve as public-facing representative of the appraisal team, always maintaining professional communication and appearance.
• Interview property owners or contractors to obtain pertinent information.
• Submit regular reports to track progress against assigned work.
