Job summary

Richmond National seeks an Actuary to join its growing actuarial team in Glen Allen, VA. The role focuses on expanding the department, guiding pricing and reserving, and delivering data-driven insights across property lines.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of P&C actuarial experience, ACAS designation or near, and programming experience in Python (others also valued). On-site support and collaboration with executives are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, data science, statistics, or related subjects.
• 3+ years of relevant actuarial experience.
• ACAS designation or close to obtaining ACAS.
• Programming experience: Python, R, Java, or C (Python preferred).
• Property & casualty experience required; excess & surplus lines a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ongoing analyses of rates and results, focused on Commercial Property.
• Pricing and reserving for Commercial Property.
• Rate change monitoring.
• Programming to automate actuarial and data-related tasks.
• Data-sharing with executive team and staff underwriters.
• Work cross-functionally to aid internal tools and products.
• Respond to ad hoc requests from product line and executive leaders.
• Other actuarial work as assigned.
