Job summary

CFS in Orlando, FL is seeking a Property Accountant to own the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of multifamily properties. You will prepare monthly financials, perform journal entries, and coordinate with on-site teams to ensure accurate reporting.

This hybrid role offers collaboration with operations and leadership, opportunities to mentor juniors, support budgets and audits, and promote process improvements within a financially stable real estate organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Minimum of three years property accounting experience.
• Experience managing full accounting cycle for multiple properties.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close.
• Experience with Yardi, MRI, RealPage or similar software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• CPA or CPA candidate is a plus but not required.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full-cycle accounting function for an assigned portfolio of multifamily properties.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Complete month-end close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Monitor cash balances, forecast cash requirements, and manage property banking activity.
• Calculate management fees, owner distributions, accruals, and reclassifications.
• Partner with on-site property management teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Analyze monthly financial results and provide insights to leadership.
• Track lender escrows, replacement reserves, debt service, and other obligations.
• Assist with budgets, forecasting, audits, and special accounting projects.
• Support acquisitions, dispositions, and onboarding of new assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Minimum of three years of property accounting experience, with multifamily experience strongly preferred
• Experience managing the complete accounting cycle for multiple properties
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statement preparation, month-end close, and account reconciliations
• Experience with Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or similar property management/accounting software
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with budgeting, cash forecasting, and financial reporting preferred
• CPA or active CPA candidate is a plus but not required
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
