The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 3+ years in accounting (real estate preferred), and strong Yardi Voyager and Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years accounting experience; real estate experience preferred.
• Advanced working knowledge of Yardi Voyager.
• Proficient in Excel with strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Generate tenant invoices and account statements monthly and on request.
• Post receipts and NSFs accurately and timely.
• Process move-in/move-out accounting as needed.
• Perform monthly reconciliations, including cash receipts and security deposits.
• Assist with CAM/TAX/INS reconciliation recovery schedules.
• Respond to tenant inquiries regarding recoveries and charges.
• File sales/use tax and GIT-ER tax quarterly.
• Support year-end audit preparation.
• Assist Controller with bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and tax return preparation.
• Meet directly with tenants to review ledgers.

Ascendo Resources is currently seeking a Property Accountant for a full-time, hybrid role based near Jersey City, NJ.

The role pays up to $90,000 with a 5-10% annual bonus with great benefits.

Our client is a privately held commercial real estate company specializing in commercial properties, with a portfolio of approximately 2 million square feet. The organization maintains a lean, in-house accounting team and is looking to add a Property Accountant to support continued growth.

Position Overview

The Property Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and join an accounting team of four. This role is responsible for lease activations, lease maintenance, rent billings, and collections, with active participation in semi-monthly and month-end reconciliation processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate tenant invoices and account statements monthly and upon request
• Apply and post receipts and NSFs accurately and timely
• Process move-in/move-out accounting as needed
• Perform monthly account reconciliations, including cash receipts and security deposits
• Assist with CAM/TAX/INS reconciliation recovery schedules
• Respond to tenant inquiries regarding recoveries and other charges

• Assist Controller with corporate accounting tasks, including bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and tax return preparation
