Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join a growing accounting team. The role focuses on applying cash, accrual, and full GAAP to a complex real estate portfolio, including multifamily properties.

You will prepare financial statements, budgets, and tenant CAM reconciliations while collaborating with management and external partners. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, takes ownership, and has extensive real estate accounting experience, especially in multifamily

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 5+ years real estate accounting experience required, multifamily preferred.
  • CPA license preferred.
  • Experience with Yardi or other real estate accounting software strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and federal tax regulations.
  • Understanding of cash, accrual, GAAP, and tax accounting methods.
  • Proven experience preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements and property-level reporting.
  • Strong understanding of property accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with CAM charges and reconciliations.

  • Complete and oversee advanced accounting transactions in preparation of client financial statement packages.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Ensure expenses, receipts, owner distributions, funding requests, and other period transactions are properly posted.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reporting packages for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure financial packages are prepared and delivered timely to investors, lenders, and management teams.
  • Prepare funding and payment requests, ensuring appropriate documentation and authorization.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and fixed asset ledgers to supporting documentation.
  • Respond to and resolve accounting questions and requests from property management teams, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Research outstanding accounting issues, identify potential discrepancies, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Review complex property budgets and forecasts for assigned portfolios.
  • Partner with external audit and tax professionals to support required financial statements and reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze tenant CAM charges and reconciliations.
  • Provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis as needed.

Senior Property Accountant

A leading, privately held real estate development, investment, and management organization is seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join its growing accounting team.

The company has an extensive portfolio spanning commercial, residential, retail, mixed-use, and industrial properties. This role will be responsible for applying cash, accrual, and full GAAP accounting principles to prepare, analyze, maintain, and deliver accurate financial reporting for a complex portfolio of properties.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is highly detail-oriented, takes ownership of their work, and has a strong background in real estate accounting, particularly multifamily properties.

Key Responsibilities
