Job summary

Ideal students will support style and writing improvements, attend staff meetings, and maintain office hours. Federal Work Study eligibility and resume/cover letter are required, with preference for journalism, communication, or English majors.

Qualifications

• Must be a student at Saint Xavier University.
• Must be Federal Work Study Eligible.
• Must include a Resume and Cover Letter.
• Preference in journalism, communication, or English.

Responsibilities

• In charge of proof reading all articles that will run in The Xavierite publication and on the official website following the AP style.
• Proof reads rough draft tear sheets of the newspaper and magazine.
• Assists staffers with writing and style of article when necessary.
• Informs Editor-in-Chief when stories are not turned in on time.
• Attend general staff meetings.
• Maintain weekly-posted office hours in The Xavierite office (5 hours per week).
• Checks and edits content for accuracy of style throughout the entire paper and E-magazine.
• Checks for libelous and litigious statements.
