AI Agents are the future of how Triple Whale customers will interact with our platform. We house all of the data that ecommerce marketers and operators need to run their business, and we're using agents to help them make faster and smarter business decisions.
The Prompt Engineering team is at the forefront of making that goal a reality and bringing usable, understandable, and transformative agents to our customers. As we scale our existing AI capabilities and explore new frontiers, we looking for a skilled Prompt Engineer who can bridge the gap between our technical teams and customers, ensuring seamless data extraction and intelligent reporting that drives real business outcomes. This role reports to the VP of Design, Research and Applied AI.
What you'll do:
- Customer-facing AI support — Work directly with customers to understand their data needs and help them build AI agents that extract insights and generate automated reports from Triple Whale's comprehensive ecommerce dataset.
- Agent development & optimization — Build new AI agents to fill our customer-facing library and training set. Focusing on natural language to SQL query generation and LLM-powered reporting outputs.
- Prompt engineering & testing — Continuously test and refine prompts across multiple LLM providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) to optimize data extraction accuracy and report quality.
- Cross-functional collaboration — Partner with developers and AI engineers to improve text-to-SQL capabilities and provide user experience feedback to enhance product usability.
- Internal enablement — Communicate new agentic features and capabilities to internal teams, supporting go-to-market strategies with technical insights and customer use cases.
- Quality assurance — Ensure AI-generated SQL queries and reports meet customer expectations and business requirements through rigorous testing and iteration.
- Customer advocacy — Act as the bridge between technical teams and customers, translating complex data capabilities into understandable solutions that drive business value.
What you'll bring:
We're open to candidates from three distinct backgrounds:
- 3+ years of experience in ecommerce marketing, media buying, or operations
- Deep understanding of ecommerce metrics, customer journeys, and business intelligence needs
- Experience using data to drive marketing and business decisions
- 3+ years of data analysis or data science experience
- Proficiency in writing SQL queries from scratch
- Experience working with complex data schemas and databases
- 3+ years of experience working with large language models or generative AI technologies
- Deep familiarity with the capabilities, tradeoffs, and inner workings of state-of-the-art LLMs (e.g., GPT-4, Claude, Mistral, etc.)
- Demonstrated proficiency with prompt engineering (e.g., LangChain), agent building frameworks, and vibe coding tools (n8n, Replit, Lovable)
Universal requirements:
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI tools and applications—you actively experiment with and stay current on AI developments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work directly with customers
- Natural curiosity about how AI can solve real business problems
- Collaborative mindset with ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with evolving AI capabilities
