Poutrix is seeking a Project Task Manager / Staff Scientist to support environmental projects across the site evaluation and remediation life cycle in Tennessee. Office-based with occasional field visits, you will assist project managers, manage data, budgets, and deliver technical reports.
Responsibilities include coordinating with clients and regulatory agencies, developing conceptual site models, and guiding field staff while maintaining health and safety standards.
As a Project Task Manager / Staff Scientist (Geologist, Environmental Scientist, or Engineer), you will collaborate with a dynamic and growing team to support projects through all phases of the site evaluation and remediation life cycle. You will have the opportunity to develop and refine a wide range of essential skills that serve as the foundation for a successful project management career in the environmental industry. In this full‑time position, you will contribute to environmental investigation, remediation, and technical reporting, working across multiple projects and supporting various project managers as an assistant project manager. Your responsibilities will include office‑based tasks encompassing a diverse range of activities related to environmental project management, working with technical staff to drive project remediation and characterization, managing project budgets, and directing field staff in data collection.
As a Project Task Manager / Staff Scientist, you will play a key role as part of a collaborative team, contributing to the planning, management, and execution of various project scopes. Your daily/weekly activities will be primarily office‑based work, with the potential to conduct site field visits throughout Tennessee up to approximately 25%.
Successful candidates for this position will have prior experience in task management and the execution of environmental investigations or remediation under the direction of a project manager. A strong understanding of task management includes overseeing scopes of work, schedules, and budgets, while ensuring strict adherence to health and safety requirements. Preferred qualifications may include experience conducting environmental field work in Tennessee, experience working with Tennessee State regulators, and working towards or having professional licenses (i.e. Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer).
Salary range for this position is $68,400 - $102,600. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
