About the role, Your Impact:

Baxter & Woodman Inc. is seeking high energy, dynamic, and career-minded individuals to work mainly throughout McHenry, Lake & Cook County areas, but includes all of Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, when necessary. This position will locate and determine portions of the earth’s surface by planning, conducting, and recording field data for a diverse range of surveys. The candidate should be results-oriented and work well in a team environment. Additionally, the candidate will be part of the Baxter & Woodman, Inc. Innovation Group, so problem-solving, troubleshooting, and pioneering new technology are essential.

What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job:

• Operate survey instruments and equipment for various projects such as topographic, ALTA, boundary, construction, etc.
• Locate and determine land features by measuring and calculating points, elevations, lines, angles, areas, and contours, contributing information to and from software and hardware used by the B&W Survey Department.
• Support the assistant department manager with recording surveys by preparing notes, records, drawings, and managing field equipment/hardware and software systems.
• Complete projects efficiently within deadlines and budgets.
• Lead survey crews for a variety of clients and projects.
• Enhance the department and organization’s reputation by taking ownership of new requests and exploring opportunities to add value.

Education Requirement:

Must-haves, what you will bring:

• At least 5 years of experience in a survey field crew.
• Experience completing different types of surveys.
• Experience operating survey equipment and training staff on survey principles and equipment (including Riegl & Trimble laser scanners, Trimble TSC7 data collectors with Trimble Access software, Leica digital levels, Trimble robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, Spectra Precision GNSS receivers).
• LSIT/SI accreditation is a plus.
• AutoCAD/Bentley/TBC experience is a plus.
• CST (Certified Survey Technician I-IV) accreditation is a plus.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Compensation: The pay range is $32 - $44 per hour, based on skills, experience, and certifications.
