Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking a field operations leader to oversee heavy highway and civil site development projects in Gary, Indiana. You will develop schedules, coordinate with customers and project teams, and direct field personnel to ensure drawings, specifications, and project timelines are met.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in heavy highway, civil, and site development projects (required).
  • Experience with asphalt, concrete, grading, and underground utility work preferred.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while leading field operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement schedules and work plans for assigned projects
  • Communicate with customers and project team members to coordinate schedules, project changes, and resolve issues
  • Direct field personnel to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and project schedules
  • Ensure project documentation and quantity reporting are accurate and complete
  • Develop submittals, change orders, and pay requests as assigned
  • Resolve construction challenges collaboratively and proactively
  • Review and evaluate daily project costs, timesheets, truck usage, and equipment utilization
  • Monitor employee compliance with safety programs and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Coordinate with Quality Control, Equipment, and other departments to ensure materials, inspections, and equipment are available when needed

Pay: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
